If we have evidence of cavemen, then how can we believe that the Adam & Eve story is true?

I was born into a catholic family so automatically I became catholic. Lately though, my faith is not as strong as is used to be so i have questions. Since we have evidence of Cavemen, how can we believe the Adam & Eve story?
